Marathon thread was first introduced in 1958 by the Dong-il Corporation in
Korea.
Currently Dong-il Industrial Co. produces more than 1.2 million cones of thread
a month and exports to more than 30 countries such as U.S.A., Australia, Portugal,
Spain, Indonesia, Argentina, and Canada.
Industrial Sewing Technologies specialises in the Marathon Rayon range
with it's huge selection of colours and shades. Marathon is one of the most
popular threads used in Australia.
Although we do stock and sell polyester, rayon is more widely used in the
industry. Rayon is preferable for it's ease of use and user friendly characteristics,
and generally speaking the colours are more vibrant. The applications for polyesters
are ideal for garments and other sewn items that are subject to constant heavy
bleaching and washings.
